George I Chinoiserie Tall Case Clock
Made by Benjamin Pain, Little Thorpe, Leicestershire in 1720. This is a beautiful example of early British clock making, with its brass dial and silver chapter ring. Eight-day brass works, weight driven, with hour strike. The case is painted in the tortoise shell chinoiserie style (most likely repainted at some point.) The case is made of oak, with later repairs.
